I just got the beta version of Hot Illustrations 1.0, and if I didn't have to write this review, I'd still be playing with it. I meant to say playing because this is one of those resources that'll make working feel like playing! I admit I'm a minor league techno-freak, so this thing gets me where I live. I put the disk in, clicked [ok], and instantly had everything I needed to plan a discussion 30 minutes before the group shows up (I don't endorse this behavior, but sometimes…). The interface is straight forward, not overly flashy, very user friendly, cross-referenced by title, category, and scripture with a Web-like search engine. Each illustration has a "next step" section and a note pad for you to jot down your ideas. This feature can also be useful in cataloging when and how the discussion went. None of this would matter, though, if the content wasn't worth it—but it is.Hot Illustrationshas 400 entries from an exhaustive "Who's Who" of Christian authors. To sum it up in five words or less—go buy this one now!
